Many Americans wonder just what it is about the culture of Hollywood that not only condones – but wholeheartedly supports, liberalism. Now we might know the answer.
Conservative actress Janine Turner said that if you support conservative causes in Hollywood you’ll be punished. “You won’t get work if you do not toe the line,” she told Fox Business host Stuart Varney.
Turner is a 2005 Golden Globes co-host and a three-time nominee herself. She is most known for her role as Maggie O’Connell in the 90’s show Northern Exposure.
For Turner, it is a known fact that Hollywood makes things uncomfortable for those who disagree with typical liberalism. There is no question that the smugness hangs over Los Angeles just like a huge cloud.
“The fact that Meryl Streep and all these people can get up there and they can say these things – it’s a one-way street,” Turner said. “Can you imagine if one of us got up at the Golden Globes and started talking about in a positive way about Donald Trump or in a negative way about President Obama? We’d be ostracized.”
“For those of us who love freedom of speech, it’s pretty ironic,” she continued. Streep is welcome to slam Donald Trump and others until the cows come home. Unfortunately, she is able to do this because Hollywood does not allow any of her colleagues to speak out against her, not without punishment.
Elite artsy-fartsy individuals have long ruled the day in Hollywood and they continue to push the envelope. As goes Hollywood, so goes the rest of the country, eventually. We have seen all kinds of previous socially taboo ideals become topics the media elite push.
Because of this, it is probably time that Hollywood got an influx of conservative individuals. It will not be easy, but the actors, actresses, producers, executives and others that hold conservative views will eventually need to band together.
One of the best ways to start would be to form a Hollywood production company that is dedicated to promoting conservative ideals. Right now, this is only limited to Christian movies, but it really needs to go mainstream to make an impact.
This is why it is important to realize that we have not actually “arrived” just because we have elected a president that the “silent majority” fully believes in. If we do not re-take the culture over the next couple of years and decades, the bitter and spiteful comments towards Trump and others will only continue.
In a nutshell, we have to stand for our rights, just like Janine Turner just did!
