The U.S. has sealed a deal with Venezuela to control more than 65 billion barrels of its proven oil reserves and America’s strategic national stocks are set to benefit, President Donald Trump announced Sunday.
Earlier the president wrote that the agreement would more than double American oil reserves and “substantially lower Gas Prices for all Americans,” the BBC reports.
In a late-night address on Saturday, Venezuela’s interim President Delcy Rodríguez affirmed the deal as one that would help her nation’s economic revival.
Rodriguez, who is Maduro’s former vice-president and who the U.S. backed following his capture, also said on Saturday the energy agreement with the U.S. would remain in force for 25 years.

President Donald Trump encouraged Canadian companies “that are doing business with America” to move their companies to the United States, adding that when they move back, there will be “no TARIFFS.”
In a Truth Social post Sunday, Trump noted that many of the Canadian companies doing business with the U.S. are companies that left “due to stupid” leadership in the U.S.
“Let all Canadian Companies that are doing business with America move to the United States, immediately,” Trump said. “Many of them are Companies that moved out years ago due to stupid U.S. Leadership. When you move back, there are no TARIFFS!”
“Canada has been ripping off the United States of America for years,” Trump said in his post at the time. “Their ridiculously high tariffs on our Farmers and farm products has made life impossible for these great American Patriots, and has long created a 60 Billion Dollar Deficit between our two Countries. Not sustainable, and NOT ANYMORE!”
Ro Khanna: Trump Taking Venezuelan Oil Is ‘Morally Wrong’
Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) said on MS NOW’s “All In” that President Donald Trump’s agreement giving the U.S. majority control over more than 65 billion barrels of Venezuelan’s oil reserves is “morally wrong.”

Google Maps Complies With Trump’s ‘Lake America’ Order
Google began displaying “Lake America” in place of “Lake Ontario” for U.S. users of Google Maps on Saturday, complying with an executive order President Donald Trump signed Thursday amid an escalating trade dispute with Canada.
The order directs the Interior Department to update the U.S. Geographic Names Information System (GNIS), the federal database that governs official American map labels. Google said its maps are updated “to reflect name changes in official government sources,” and that the change follows the company’s “long-standing policy for bodies of water with names that vary from country to country.” Under the new display rules, U.S. users see “Lake America,” Canadian users continue to see “Lake Ontario,” and users elsewhere see both names, with “Lake America” appearing in parentheses.
The change mirrors Google’s 2025 decision to relabel the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America” after a similar Inauguration Day executive order from Trump, a move Mexico threatened to challenge legally at the time.
Not every mapping platform has followed suit. Apple Maps, for example, still shows “Lake Ontario.” MapQuest said it won’t adopt the new name at all, instead rolling out a tool letting users rename the lake to whatever they choose.
Bill Maher Mocks Liberals For Pearl-Clutching Over ‘Lake America’ Name Change
Comedian and HBO host Bill Maher mocked liberals who were losing their minds over President Donald Trump’s decision to rename Lake Ontario.
Trump announced the change to “Lake America” as his administration squabbles with Canadian leadership over trade and tariffs and liberals, as Maher pointed out, were quick to claim that the president was not allowed to simply rename things whenever the political whim struck.
“Trump is so mad at Canada, he renamed Lake Ontario ‘Lake America,’” Maher said, prompting laughs. “Now I gotta buy a new globe again. It’s like the fifth time it’s happened” a nod to Trump’s earlier renaming of the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.”
“The liberals are very pissed at this,” he continued. “They say you can’t just go around changing things to fit your political agenda. Just ask any Latinx birthing person.”
Border czar Tom Homan fires back after Democrat Chris Murphy claims ICE is ‘terrorizing little kids’
White House border czar Tom Homan fired back on Sunday’s “State of the Union” after Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., accused U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (”ICE”) of targeting parents at school bus stops in Danbury, Connecticut.
“Trump says ICE is targeting criminals. They aren’t. It’s a lie,” Murphy posted to X on Friday. “In Danbury, they are just targeting parents sitting at school bus stops just to terrorize little kids.”
On CNN’s “State of the Union”, Homan rejected Murphy’s characterization of ICE operations.
"ICE isn't in the business of terrorizing children," Homan told host Dana Bash. "That's just political fire. ICE is out there enforcing the law that was enacted by Congress. Did we arrest illegal aliens [that are] parents? I'm sure many are. But we're not out there to terrorize children."
