“I don’t want to cause any problem. I will tell you, I’d love to see it unified,” Trump said alongside Irish Taoiseach Micheál Martin. “It’s going to happen eventually.” Trump further called reunification “a fantastic thing” and said it would be “a great feather in everybody’s cap,” while acknowledging that the United Kingdom would have a say in any change. “How can it be bad?” Trump said.
Charlie Kirk Statue Vandalized, Splattered with Red Paint
Turning Point USA announced Sunday
that a statue depicting the late founder Charlie Kirk outside the organization’s headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona, was vandalized and splattered with red paint.
In a post on X, Turning Point Action COO Tyler Bowyer shared photos of the vandalized statue next to a sign with a photo of Kirk that was also vandalized. The sign had a red “X” painted across Kirk’s face, and red paint over the word “Jesus” in the accompanying caption, “May Charlie be received into the merciful arms of Jesus, our loving Savior.”
SICK PEOPLEThere was red paint sprayed across the neck on the statue of Kirk, across Kirk’s face on the statue, and on one of the hands of the statue that was holding a baseball cap. What appeared to be an upside-down smiley face in red paint was also painted over the bottom of the shirt on the statue of Kirk.
DOJ Criminal Probe of Gavin Newsom Looking at Benefactors Who Pay for His Travel
Newsom’s (D) international travel courtesy of private benefactors is the subject of a federal criminal investigation, the San Francisco Standard reported Saturday.
According to the digital news outlet:
The subpoenas which were issued in early September and requested testimony and communications with the governor, among others seek six years of records involving the California State Protocol Foundation, a nonprofit that has paid for Newsom’s overseas travel, as well as communications with a circle of his current and former aides, advisers, and associates. Those aides include Rebecca Prowda, who oversees Newsom’s overseas travel as his chief protocol officer and is the wife of San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie.
The investigative report from the outlet noted that the documents “provide the clearest picture yet” of the extent of the probe of the governor and his wife.
President Donald Trump has promised an end to the 15% tariff on Irish whiskey.
Trump was attending the Amgen Irish Open at his Trump International Golf Links resort in Doonbeg, County Clare and he took the microphone at the contest’s close to present a trophy to Irish golfer Shane Lowry, who won the tournament.
“This is an honor. We’re so proud. The whole Doonbeg and frankly, Ireland itself has been so incredible, so inviting, and we’re very honored presenting you with a great course, it’s been great,” Trump said, but then he pivoted.
“I want to mention one thing. Taoiseach and I talked about it, and Shane talked about it, and everybody’s been bugging me, they’re saying, ‘Would you do me a favor? It’s so unfair what’s going on. Could you possibly take the tariffs off of Irish whisky?’”
The crowd roared with laughter, and Trump smiled before he continued, “And I said on behalf of the United States of America, I am going to take the tariffs off of Irish whiskey.”
The crowd cheered so loud then that Trump was completely drowned out as he finished his sentence.
“Thank you,” Trump said, turning to Lowry and adding, “Shane, great job.”
El-Sayed: ‘The Barbarian Is in the White House’
Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed said President Donald Trump is a “barbarian in the White House.”
JIANG: What do you make of Republicans focusing so much attention on you?
EL-SAYED: Well, I’ll tell you this: the barbarian is in the White House, and we’re seeing the consequences of that right now. You know, it was not a subject at all of the RNC? the gas prices, grocery prices, these ridiculous tariffs, and this war with Canada that’s raising our prices an average $5,600 a year for the average Michigan family. The war in Iran- didn’t want to talk about any of it.
The fact that you can’t see a doctor in the United States. So, they’re going to point to me. They’re going to talk about me. They’re going to point to my name. They’re going to point to our faith. And at the end of the day, they’re doing that so that you don’t pay attention to the fact that you are being nickled and dimed by the barbarian in the White House and by a set of public policies that are not in your interest, but in his.
Trump Calls on Ukraine to Halt Strikes on Russian Diesel, Saying Attacks Causing Shortage
U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to halt strikes on Russian diesel, saying the attacks are causing a fuel shortage.
Trump responded by calling on Zelenskyy to halt strikes against Russia.
“Mr. Zelensky has to do one thing. He has to stop knocking out diesel fuel in Russia,” Trump told reporters on the sidelines of the Irish Open, which is being played at his Doonbeg golf club.
“Let him go after targets but not diesel fuel, because he’s causing a shortage of diesel fuel.”
Ukraine’s long-range strikes have been targeting Russia’s oil and gas industry for months, which Kyiv says both funds and directly fuels Moscow’s more than four-year-old invasion of its neighbor.
Russia has also ramped up its air campaign against Ukraine in recent weeks, using ballistic missiles and jet-powered drones to pierce Ukraine’s defenses. Moscow’s attacks have targeted Ukraine’s power grid ahead of winter in what officials say is meant to demoralize civilians.
Civilians were killed and injured overnight into Sunday as Russia and Ukraine exchanged large-scale drone strikes.
Two people were killed and 14 more injured near an oil and industrial hub in Russia’s Tatarstan, according to local officials, while Ukrainian authorities reported on reported on Russian drones pummelling the Black Sea port of Odesa and starting a fire near a border crossing with Poland.
