Democrats are losing ground with one of their most reliable constituencies as new data reveals President Donald Trump’s approval rating among black voters has ticked up modestly compared to his first term, according to recent polling.

CNN data analyst Harry Enten noted that Trump’s approval among African American voters has risen from roughly 12% during his first term to about 16% in his second.

“I think what we’re seeing right now in the numbers is President Trump and the Republican Party are chipping away at the long-term advantage that Democrats have had with black voters,” Enten said.

Trump also saw gains among black voters in the 2024 election, winning approximately 15% of the vote, up from 8% in 2020.

In a 9-0 ruling, First Choice Women’s Center prevailed over former New Jersey Attorney General Matt Platkin. Platkin had attempted to force the pregnancy center to hand over private donor information and had even gone so far as to coordinate with Planned Parenthood on a “consumer alert” targeting pregnancy centers across the state with false and unsubstantiated accusations.

The Court’s decision allows First Choice and pregnancy centers across the country to defend their rights and continue serving women and children without fear of government threats or interference. The ruling on First Amendment grounds supported by even Ketanji Brown Jackson is a decisive victory for life.

President Donald Trump called on Senate Republicans to lift the filibuster on Thursday so they can pass the Save America Act, which would require proof of citizenship to register to vote.

Trump, who has called on Republicans to bypass the filibuster since October, took to Truth Social to share his message with Senate Republicans.

“How much abuse can the Republican Senate take from the Radical Left Lunatics in the form of Democrat Senators, before they BLOW UP (TERMINATE!) THE FILIBUSTER, and approve things at a record clip, including The Save America Act, that would be unthinkable without the Filibuster Termination???” he wrote.

“The Dems will do it on the first hour of their first day. DO NOT BE STUPID!!!” he added.

The Save America Act would require citizens to show proof of citizenship when registering to vote and implement Voter ID. The legislation would also end universal mail-in ballots with exceptions for illness, travel, disability, and military reasons.

He added, “And on top of that, we then have the strike where they came back in and hit it again, a double tap, just purely to kill these survivors who were clinging to wreckage. You know, it’s interesting, Erin, another historical analogy back in World War II, the Allies tried Nazi submarine captains for doing this exact same thing. And guess what the conclusion was? They got executed.”

Raskin: SCOTUS ‘Has Been Gerrymandered’

On Thursday’s broadcast of MS NOW’s “The Last Word,” Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said that, in the wake of the Supreme Court’s ruling earlier this week on drawing congressional district maps, “we’re going to have to try to transform the way the Supreme Court has been gerrymandered itself and stacked and packed with MAGA appointees.”

LMAO What???While discussing the court ruling, host Lawrence O’Donnell asked, “Can you envision a future Supreme Court with dominated by appointees by a Democratic president, reversing this kind of ruling?”

Raskin answered, “Well, perhaps. But the damage is going to be done for a long time. And, obviously, we’re going to have to try to transform the way the Supreme Court has been gerrymandered itself and stacked and packed with MAGA appointees.”

Raskin further argued that Congress should push for legislation on redistricting with redistricting panels in every state, “with multi-member congressional districts, and then mechanisms of proportional representation, like cumulative voting.”

Congress Ends Record DHS Shutdown; Passes Bill with No ICE, Border Patrol Funding

Congress on Thursday passed legislation that would restore funding to key parts of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) except for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol, which ends a record 76-day shutdown of the department.

The House on Thursday passed the funding package by voice vote to partially fund DHS, which the Senate passed more than a month ago. President Donald Trump will likely sign the legislation to fully fund the Coast Guard, Transportation Security Administration, Secret Service, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, along with other agencies that do not handle immigration and border enforcement.

Congressional Republicans will now focus on passing a reconciliation bill that would fund the Border Patrol and ICE to the tune of tens of billions of dollars. Using reconciliation would allow for the package to pass through the Senate with only 51 votes on partisan lines.

Funding DHS on partisan lines instead of a larger appropriations package would largely prevent Democrats from constraining Border Patrol and ICE’s immigration enforcement strategy and tactics.

This does not mean that everyone is happy with how Congress funded these parts of DHS.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) said ahead of the vote, “I think it’s asinine that we’re funding the government this way.”

Trump taps Nicole Saphier for surgeon general, dropping Casey Means’ nomination

President Donald Trump announced he is nominating Dr. Nicole B. Saphier to serve as U.S. surgeon general.

“I am pleased to announce that I am nominating Dr. Nicole B. Saphier to be the next SURGEON GENERAL OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” Trump declared in a Truth Social post Thursday.

“Nicole is a STAR physician who has spent her career guiding women facing breast cancer through their diagnosis and treatment while tirelessly advocating to increase early cancer detection and prevention, while at the same time working with men and women on all other forms of cancer diagnoses and treatments.

"She is also an INCREDIBLE COMMUNICATOR, who makes complicated health issues more easily understood by all Americans. Dr. Nicole Saphier will do great things for our Country, and help, ‘MAKE AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN.’ Congratulations Nicole, our Country has long been waiting for you!"

Trump made the announcement on Truth Social shortly after blasting Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., accusing the senator of stymieing his prior nomination of Casey Means to serve as surgeon general.

“For months, Senator Bill Cassidy (of the GREAT State of Louisiana!), a very disloyal person whose ‘TRUMP’ Endorsement got him elected, but later voted to impeach “President Trump” on what has now proven to be a total Hoax and Scam, has stood in the way of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Nominee, Casey Means, for the important position of U.S. Surgeon General,” the president declared in a Truth Social post.
