On Saturday Trump said in a social media post that he was “effective immediately, raising the 10% Worldwide Tariff on Countries, many of which have been ‘ripping’ the U.S. off for decades, without retribution (until I came along!), to the fully allowed, and legally tested, 15% level”.
He added: “During the next short number of months, the Trump Administration will determine and issue the new and legally permissible Tariffs.”

Trump Seeks Tougher Work Permit Rules For Illegals With Asylum Claims
The Trump administration is proposing new regulations that would make it more difficult for illegal immigrants to receive work permits.
Under the Biden administration, as millions of illegal immigrants poured across the southern border, they were afforded the opportunity to receive work permits rapidly before even receiving immigration status. The new proposed rule would make it more difficult for illegal border crossers whose asylum claims have no standing to obtain work permits.
“For too long, a fraudulent asylum claim has been an easy path to working in the United States, overwhelming our immigration system with meritless applications,” a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said.
“We are proposing an overhaul of the asylum system to enforce the rules and reduce the backlog we inherited from the prior administration. Aliens are not entitled to work while we process their asylum applications. The Trump administration is strengthening the vetting of asylum applicants and restoring integrity to the asylum and work authorization processes,” the spokesperson added.

Is JD Vance The GOP’s Post-Trump Future?
Vance has become a central figure in the Trump coalition, critics on both the populist right and the GOP’s more traditional conservative wing question whether his relatively short tenure in national office and shifting political positions make him the natural heir to the movement.
Vance isn’t simply riding the Trump wave, but represents a deeper shift inside the GOP. Vance’s focus on family, faith, practicality, and a willingness to confront institutions that have clearly stopped working for normal people are a huge part of the appeal.
Vance grew up amid addiction and instability, then passed through Yale Law and into the upper echelons of society. What he found, DeVito said, was a stunning disconnect. “The elites think things are great and getting better,” he said. “Meanwhile, in the communities Vance came from, it’s addiction, joblessness, broken families, and despair.”
Labor Dept deploys ‘strike team’ to California over $21B unemployment debt, fraud concerns
The Labor Department deployed a “strike team” to California to address federal findings of improper payments and alleged fraud within the state’s unemployment insurance (UI) program.
California has been found to have a depleted UI trust fund, along with $21 billion in borrowed federal funds to keep the system running which federal officials say has led state employers to pay higher UI taxes to repay the debt.
In a statement, the department cited an 83-page California State Auditor report that determined the state’s UI system is high-risk, in part due to “inadequate fraud prevention and claimant service [in its employment development department (EDD)], as well as a high rate of overturned eligibility decisions in its Unemployment Insurance Program.”
Trump to Give Britons and Europeans Tools to Bypass Online Censorship
The U.S. government is launching a ‘Freedom.Gov’ website that will give British and European visitors the tools to access censorship-free parts of the internet they have been geofenced out of because of their own governments in the name of public safety.
Wires service Reuters states the new initiative is the work of the U.S. State Department and led by Undersecretary for Public Diplomacy Sarah Rogers, who has been a key figure in bringing President Trump’s message of freedom to Europeans in recent months. The report cites unnamed government insiders who say the Freedom.Gov portal may feature a Virtual Private Network (VPN) tool to allow European users to bypass domestic controls and, remarkably, claims its use won’t be tracked.
A State Department spokesman is quoted as saying: “Digital freedom is a priority for the State Department, however, and that includes the proliferation of privacy and censorship-circumvention technologies like VPNs.”
Mike Pence Gloats over SCOTUS Decision to Strike Down Trump’s Tariffs
Former Vice President Mike Pence gloated over the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down President Donald Trump’s tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act
“Today’s 6-3 ruling by the Supreme Court is a Victory for the American People and a Win for the Separation of Powers enshrined in the Constitution of the United States,” Pence wrote.
“In Learning Resources, Inc. v. Trump, our Supreme Court has reaffirmed that the Constitution grants Congress – not the President – the power to tax,” he added.
Pence claimed that Americans pay tariffs, not foreign countries, though the conventional wisdom of many economists who have pushed this line of thinking has thus far proven wrong, as the consumer price index rose only 2.4 percent from January 2025 to January 2026, despite Trump’s tariffs.
Susan Rice Threatens Trump Supporters: ‘Revenge Is Best Served Cold’
President Joe Biden’s domestic policy chief is promising revenge against the voters, business executives, and appointees who support President Donald Trump’s 2024 election mandate.
She added:
When it comes to the elites, you know, the corporate interests, the law firms, the universities, the media … it’s not going to end well for them, for those that decided that they would act in their perceived very narrow self-interest, which I would underscore, is very short-term self-interest, and, you know, take a knee to Trump.
The comments reflect the Democrats’ deep personal resentment and anger at voters’ rejection of their elite agendas, and of the voters’ support for Trump’s populist agenda in 2016 and 2o24.
That resentment makes it difficult for Democrats to make concessions to the voters, although many have just adopted moderate-sounding rhetoric.
Rice was a foreign policy adviser to President Barack Obama until he was replaced by Trump. She was the top domestic policy adviser to Joe Biden from January 2021 to May 2023, and saw her policy accomplishments trumped in November 2024.
