Trump to be honored by CNN's potential new owner

President Donald Trump is being honored by the next potential owner of CNN ahead of the White House Correspondents Dinner.

Breaker Media reported Tuesday that Paramount CEO David Ellison is hosting an “intimate gathering” at the newly named Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace, formerly known as the United States Institute of Peace, on April 23, just two days before Trump is scheduled to attend the annual media gala for the first time as president.

According to a copy of the invitation obtained by Breaker Media, the dinner will be “honoring the Trump White House and CBS White House Correspondents.”

Ex-Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax and Wife Dead in Suspected Murder-Suicide

Multiple reports indicate former Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax (D) and his wife were found dead in the early hours of Thursday morning following a murder-suicide.

The 47-year-old Democrat shot his dentist wife, Cerina Fairfax, in the basement of their residence before turning the gun on himself, according to police as cited by the NY Post.

Chairwoman McClain Focuses on Working Families Tax Cuts While Democrats Push ‘Tax the Rich’

House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain marked Tax Day on Wednesday with a roundtable featuring lawmakers, workers, small business owners, manufacturers, farmers, and tax professionals who said the Working Families Tax Cuts, passed last year, increased refunds, reduced taxes on tips and overtime pay, and provided relief for small businesses during the first filing season under the law.

“For too many families, the last few years felt like a constant squeeze. You worked more, but your money did less,” McClain said, asserting that Republicans fought for the Working Families Tax Cuts because “A lot of people started wondering whether anyone actually understood what that felt like. Republicans did.”

Wittman said the law provides “historic relief that reaches all Americans from seniors to families, small business owners, service industry employees, and first responders,” while Womack said he was “incredibly proud” that workers in his district were “keeping more of their hard-earned money this tax season” because of the no tax on tips provision, he and stressed that “every dollar counts.”

George Agurkis, H&R Block’s vice president of government relations, said that according to the latest IRS data, refunds are up about 11 percent this year. He added that the Treasury Department reported more than four million taxpayers had claimed the no tax on tips provision. Agurkis pointed to one example from Southern California, where “one tax pro prepared a return for a single mother who works at a bowling alley, and, generally, she would owe every year. And this year, claiming No Tax on Tips, she actually got a refund.”

Mullin Slams Biden’s Green Light For DHS Murder Suspect Despite Criminal Past

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said Wednesday that the Biden administration knew the man suspected of murdering a DHS employee had a checkered criminal history, but granted him citizenship anyway.

Mullin said that 26-year-old Olaolukitan Adon Abel had an established criminal pattern before he was granted citizenship in 2022 by the Biden administration. Abel was arrested earlier this week for murdering 40-year-old DHS employee Lauren Bullis in DeKalb County, Georgia, while she was out walking her dog.

“This individual not just had a pattern of criminal activity, but his pattern was every April. Every April, he had escalated his criminal activity, and the Biden administration knew this, law enforcement knew this, and they decided not to just deport him, but they allowed him to become a citizen, and then he escalated it to the point he did now,”

Abel was arrested on Monday after police said that he went on a random killing spree that left Bullis and another woman dead, and a homeless man seriously injured. Bullis was shot and stabbed while out walking her dog Monday morning.

Born in the United Kingdom, Abel has an extensive criminal history including convictions for sexual battery, battery against a police officer, obstruction, assault with a deadly weapon, and vandalism.

Dan Caine Delivers Powerful Tribute To U.S. Sailors Fighting The War

Speaking at a press briefing alongside Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and CENTCOM’s Brad Cooper, Caine began, “I want to talk briefly today about the men and women enforcing the blockade, America’s sailors and Marines, particularly our destroyer and surface forces. When we talk about an American destroyer, it’s important that you and the American people understand their capabilities.”

“An Arleigh Burke class destroyer is the backbone of the United States Navy surface fleet,” he continued. “Over 500 feet long, they displace 9,000 tons and it is the sports car of the United States Navy. From the keel to the mast, they stand nearly 10 stories tall, and their four gas turbine engines can drive the ship at 30-plus knots. These ships are armed to the teeth with surface-to-air missiles, land attack cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles, anti-submarine rockets, torpedoes, five-inch naval guns, multiple electronic warfare systems. Embarked helicopters extend the reach and capability of each and every one of these destroyers.”

Then he turned to the American warriors: “But far and away, the most important thing important weapon on board these ships is the American sailor. Over 300 warfighters are the heart and soul of these warships. At sea sometimes for months, and these ships, out in the CENTCOM AOR, have been out there for months. They operate around the clock in a constant state of readiness delivering for our joint force.”

“It’s hot in the engine room,” he explained. “The engineering team keeps the lights on and the ship powered and able to respond to the orders from the bridge. On that bridge, our sailors maintain a constant watch, maneuvering the ship tactically and safely through all congested water space and there is a lot out there. It is like driving a sports car through a supermarket parking lot on a payday weekend with thousands of kids in that parking lot as you attempt to maneuver through there to get to that ship that would attempt to run that blockade.”

“Down in the Combat Information Center, the CIC, the Tactical Warfare Center of the ship, that is where the decisions are made,” he said. “As threats appear, these young sailors are making real-time decisions on how to identify these threats and handle them, and they always deliver. These ships are run by the youngest sailors in our surface warfare Navy. The helmsman, the sailor on the watch at the bridge, is normally just between 18 to 19 years old, and they are trusted to drive this warship through that supermarket parking lot without hitting anything. The conning officer, an equally young commissioned officer who’s normally just a few years out of college, is the one who is giving that young helmsman the orders on where to take that American warship to execute the mission that the secretary and the president has given us.”

He concluded, “These are incredibly well-trained sailors. They are led by incredible leaders, salty, experienced leaders and trusted with deep responsibility. And I’m so humbled and proud of America’s Navy. These sailors choose to take the road less traveled to go into the historic surface navy and they deliver every single day.”
