President Donald Trump said that he will order the release of government records related to “alien and extraterrestrial life.”
Trump announced his plans to release the records in a Truth Social post. The move comes after former President Barack Obama asserted that aliens “are real” in a recent YouTube interview.
“Based on the tremendous interest shown, I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs), and any and all other information connected to these highly complex, but extremely interesting and important, matters. GOD BLESS AMERICA!” said Trump.
SCOTUS Strikes Down Most Of Trump’s Tariffs
The Supreme Court ruled on Friday that President Donald Trump exceeded his constitutional authority when he used the International Economic Emergency Powers Act to impose sweeping tariffs on most of the world.
Ridiculous.
The court ruled 6-3 that Trump’s justification for the tariffs under the Emergency Powers Act went “beyond the President’s legitimate reach.” Chief Justice John Roberts was joined in the majority opinion by the three liberal justices, along with Trump-appointed Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Neil Gorsuch. Conservative Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Brett Kavanaugh dissented.
The court rebuked Trump’s use of the International Economic Emergency Powers Act, or IEEPA, stating that the act passed by Congress in 1977 makes no mention of “tariffs” or “duties” in the “lengthy list of powers” given to the president.
The White House believes there are other avenues for Trump to keep his tariffs in place. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said
in December that the president has three other avenues to impose the wide-ranging tariffs, pointing to provisions in the 1962 Trade Act that the administration could use to “recreate the exact tariff structure.”
Still, the International Emergency Economic Powers Act was the most effective way to impose global tariffs, according to Bessent.
“There are lots of other authorities that can be used, but IEEPA is by far the cleanest, and it gives the US and the president the most negotiating authority,” he said. “The others are more cumbersome, but they can be effective.”
Leading up to the decision, Trump warned of significant damage to the United States if the Supreme Court ruled against him. In a Truth Social post earlier this week, the president wrote, “Because of Tariffs, our Country is financially, AND FROM A NATIONAL SECURITY STANDPOINT, FAR STRONGER AND MORE RESPECTED THAN EVER BEFORE.”
The president has used the tariffs as leverage to urge companies to invest in U.S. manufacturing and to pressure foreign governments to negotiate with the United States on foreign policy and peace proposals.
A key question at the center of Friday’s decision was whether Trump’s tariffs should be considered a tax, pitting Trump’s foreign policy and economic agenda against Congress’ authority over taxation.
Elon Musk Declares War On E.U. ‘Censorship’ Law
X announced Friday that it is challenging a $140 million fine imposed by the European Commission under what critics call the bloc’s digital “censorship” law.
The social media company was hit with a fine in December 2025 for alleged non-compliance with the European Union’s Digital Services Act (DSA), a sweeping speech-regulation law that allows authorities to penalize companies for failing to remove so-called misinformation or other content deemed illegal. X filed an appeal on Monday in the E.U.’s General Court, arguing it was denied due process and faced a biased enforcement process.
“This EU Decision resulted from an incomplete and superficial investigation, grave procedural errors, a tortured interpretation of the obligations under the DSA, and systematic breaches of rights of defence and basic due process requirements suggesting prosecutorial bias,” X’s Global Government Affairs team said. “X remains committed to user safety and transparency while defending our users’ access to the only global town square.”
X’s move marks the first legal challenge to the Digital Services Act, which critics say enables political censorship and punishment of disfavored viewpoints. The law allows the European Commission to impose significant financial penalties on tech companies it claims are not doing enough to combat so-called disinformation.
The act relies on non-governmental organizations that advise regulators on whether online content may be deemed illegal for violating E.U. standards. It places significant reporting and compliance burdens on tech companies. In certain cases, American tech companies may be fined up to 6% of their global revenue if they violate specific conditions.
Ilhan Omar Says Democrats Don’t Just Want to Abolish ICE, They Plan to Dismantle DHS
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) revealed at a townhall meeting on Wednesday that Democrats don’t just want to abolish the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), but they are actually planning how to dismantle the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) entirely.
The Democrat congresswoman further revealed, “There is a lot of conversation about what the dismantlement of the Department of Homeland Security should look like.”
Omar’s comments come after she and other Democrat lawmakers like Minnesota Governor Tim Walz stoke the flames of resistance in reaction to routine U.S. law enforcement operations in recent weeks.
Notably, ICE has been around since 2003 and their raids are not a new phenomenon, but Democrats have been riling people up under the Trump administration, causing them to believe that impeding law enforcement means resisting some sort of “fascist” regime.
Tom Homan: ‘There Will Be Mass Deportation’
Homan said, “ICE is just doing the same thing they’ve done in the last three decades. It’s just that they got more work to do now because of the last four years of open border, with over 10 million people coming across the border, illegally released the United States, many, many of them public safety threats and national security threats. So yeah, ICE is working harder now because they’re responding to four years of open borders and nine no immigration enforcement at all.”
He added, “I will do whatever I can, because the president has made a promise to the American people, there will be mass deportation, but it’s going to prioritize public safety threats first. And that’s just the way we should be doing it. Targeted enforcement operations are a way to go. And for the people are going nuts is if you’re walking away from mass deportation. Look at the numbers. We already got record numbers to deportation but arresting the public safety threat first makes sense because you’re the biggest danger to the community. Prioritize public safety threats and national security threats doesn’t mean to forget about everybody else. I’ve said it from day one, if you’re in the country illegally, you’re not off the table. We’re looking for you, and we’ll remove you when we find you.”
Trump says he is ‘considering’ a limited military strike to pressure Iran into nuclear deal
President Donald Trump said Friday he is “considering” a limited military strike on Iran to pressure its leaders into a deal over its nuclear program.
“I guess I can say, I am considering that,” Trump said at a breakfast with governors at the White House.
Bill, Hillary Clinton to be deposed in New York for House Oversight Epstein probe
Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be deposed by the House Oversight Committee in their hometown instead of in Washington, D.C. next week
The Clintons are testifying under oath for the committee’s probe into Jeffrey Epstein. Hillary Clinton’s deposition is scheduled for Feb. 26 while Bill Clinton will sit down with congressional staff and lawmakers on Feb. 27.
“The Clintons’ depositions will be held in Chappaqua, New York on February 26 and 27 as an accommodation for their schedules. The depositions are in accordance with House and Committee rules,”
"The Clintons’ testimony is critical to understanding Epstein and [Ghislaine Maxwell’s] sex trafficking network and the ways they sought to curry favor and influence to shield themselves from scrutiny," House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky.
"Their testimony may also inform how Congress can strengthen laws to better combat human trafficking. Our goal for this investigation is straightforward: we seek to deliver transparency and accountability for the American people and for survivors."
